Netanyahu says he’ll debate Lapid if the two can agree on moderator
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleDuring an interview at a conference organized by Channel 20, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he will agree to a pre-election political debate with centrist rival Yair Lapid if the two can agree on a moderator.
Pre-election debates by prime ministerial candidates were once a regular occurrence in Israel but have not taken place since 1996, with candidates often seen as calculating that they can only cause them damage.
Netanyahu too has refused repeated calls to debate his rivals ahead of elections.
