Palestinian Authority indirectly condemns the Jerusalem attack, slamming ‘any harm’ to civilians

The Palestinian Authority presidency issues a statement of condemnation that refers indirectly to today’s terror attack in Jerusalem.

The statement says, “The presidency affirms its stance in rejecting and condemning any harm to Palestinian and Israeli civilians, and rejects all forms of violence, regardless of their source.”

This is an indirect reference to the attack, but still unusual for the Palestinian Authority, which in recent years has tended not to comment on attacks carried out by Palestinians.

The presidency further states that, “Security and stability will not be achieved without an end to the occupation,” and that the realization of the Palestinian people’s rights in an independent state “is the sole guarantee for ending the cycle of violence in the region.”
