Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed that a high-level delegation be sent on behalf of the PA to discuss the Palestinian curriculum with UNESCO, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reports.
According to the report, the consultations are intended to align the curriculum with the international standards established by UNESCO, as part of the “State of Palestine’s efforts to develop its educational system,” the report says.
The announcement was made during a phone call between Abbas and UNESCO President Khaled El-Anani.
The PA’s curriculum has faced years of criticism following studies showing it includes anti-Israel content and material that encourages terrorism.
Over the past year, the Palestinian Authority has committed to the United States to carry out various reforms, including in the field of education.
