PM invite may hurt ties with US – J Street

J Street head Jeremy Ben Ami tells Channel 2 that Netanyahu’s agreement to speak before Congress “runs the risk” of deeply hurting US-Israel relations.

Asked in an interview whether US House Speaker John Boehner was mistaken to invite Netanyahu without first alerting the White House, and whether Netanyahu was wrong to accept the invitation, Ben Ami says “the strength [of US-Israel relations] has always been in its nonpartisan nature.”

He believes it would have been wiser for the House to invite the prime minister of Israel – whoever it may be – after the Israeli elections.
