Police ‘can’t confirm’ two killed on UCLA campus
A Los Angeles police official refuses to confirm whether two people have been shot on the UCLA campus. He says claims of two fatalities being reported by the school and other officials are not confirmed.
The police official adds that there are no explosives in the building and cannot say how many shooters are being sought.
Police spokesman Aareon Jefferson tells AFP “We have two victims,” adding that officers are searching the sprawling campus for an armed gunman. “The situation is very fluid.”
He says it is unclear if the victims were students or staff at the school.
Jefferson says the shooting was reported shortly before 10 a.m. in Boelter Hall, which is part of the school of engineering.
Footage from the scene shows a group of people coming out of the engineering building with hands on their heads and walking in a line. Another person is seen being searched by police.
