Police nab suspect in checkpoint hit-and-run

Police say they have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run incident suspected of being a terror attack at a checkpoint in the West Bank earlier today.

In a tweet, the police say they transferred the suspect for questioning.

An Israeli policeman was mildly injured in the car-ramming attack next to the West Bank settlement of Ofra, north of Jerusalem.

The driver crashed into the checkpoint after ignoring police warnings to stop. Security forces reportedly opened fire on the vehicle as it approached the barrier, according to the Channel 10 news.

The driver was not apprehended and managed to flee the scene to the nearby village of Silwad.
