Protests get underway across country, demanding hostage deal, elections

Anti-government protesters are gathering nationwide, calling for immediate elections and a deal to return hostages held by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

In the northern city of Haifa, protesters are marching, carrying a banner reading: “The government of Israel against the people of Israel. Elections now.”

According to pro-democracy activists, hundreds have also gathered at the HaOgen and Karkur junctions, demanding the government reach a “deal now.”

In Rehovot, protesters hold signs demanding the Knesset “return the mandate to the nation and go to elections.”
