Ra’am leader Mansour Abbas will be receiving extra security following threats against him over his condemnation of a string of deadly terror attacks in Israel, Channel 12 news reports.
The network says he is also being threatened by far-right nationalists, after opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu said the government can’t handle terror because it sits with the Islamist party he chairs.
“We must restore peace and security to Israeli citizens,” Netanyahu said yesterday.
“Unfortunately everyone sees a government dependent on the Islamic Movement isn’t doing this and probably isn’t capable of doing this,” he added.
Sources in Ra’am tell Channel 12 that the increased security is only due to threats from Jewish nationalists, and not Arabs who disagree with Abbas condemning the terror attacks.
Abbas condemned the recent attack in Bnei Brak as “a despicable, vile terror crime against innocent civilians.”
