A large rally calling for the return of the 200-250 hostages being held by terrorists in the Gaza Strip will be held in central London this afternoon.
Organizers say that there will be a police presence as well as guards from the Community Security Trust (CST).
The rally comes a day after some 100,000 people attended a pro-Palestinian rally in London yesterday, at which there were reportedly chants of “jihad.”
The UK’s Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick tells Sky News that the chanting was “completely reprehensible,” and that the government would work to ensure police do “everything that they can to protect British Jews.”
London’s Metropolitan Police Force says it has seen a 13-fold upsurge in reports of antisemitic offenses in October compared to last year. Reports of anti-Muslim crimes have more than doubled.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Jerusalem on Thursday and said he backed Israel’s war against Hamas so long as it adheres to international law.
