Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahana announces that he is resigning his post, effective immediately.

Kahana says he has informed Prime Minister Naftali Bennett of his intention to return to the Knesset as a regular MK.

Kahana says that the move is intended to “help strengthen the coalition.”

The move is seen as aimed at preventing further defections from the Yamina party to the opposition.
