US State Department declines to issue its own comment on Nasser hospital strike

The Trump administration is remaining mum on yesterday’s Israeli strike on the Nasser hospital in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, which reportedly killed more than 20 people, including rescue workers and five journalists.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the strike a “tragic mishap,” but the IDF has since maintained that it was targeting a Hamas surveillance camera, while acknowledging that it was still investigating the matter.
Asked to comment on the strike, a State Department spokesperson told The Times of Israel, “We refer you to the government of Israel” — a policy increasingly adopted by an administration that has been far less critical than the previous one regarding Israeli policy in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
