White House on lockdown after suspicious package found
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe White House is placed on lockdown when a woman throws something over the north fence along Pennsylvania Avenue.
A woman is detained and placed in handcuffs, and fire trucks and a hazardous materials response unit are called to the scene. It is common for officers to sweep the grounds after such incidents to ensure nothing dangerous was thrown over the fence.
The lockdown ensues shortly after President Barack Obama returns from delivering a Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery.
