Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon thanked the designers of the Iron Dome defense system during a meeting with officials from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Military Industries, adding that several additional batteries are set to become operational in the coming days.
Both companies helped develop the anti-missile defense system along with the IDF.
“I wish to thank you and express my appreciation for the Iron Dome system’s remarkable activity,” Ya’alon said.
“We are talking about outstanding achievements of the system, which primarily saves lives, and gives us broad possibilities in the battle against Hamas, and sends a strong message to states and organizations around us, who are accumulating massive amounts of missiles and rockets.”
“I visited yesterday, along with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a control center for the defense system and watched the Iron Dome interceptions in real time,” he continued.
“It was impossible not to admire the professionalism and commitment of the air defense fighters, as well as the special capabilities of the Iron Dome system. They are another example of the extraordinary human quality found in the defense industry in Israel.”

As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
