Yemen’s Houthis claim their drones targeted Saudi crude oil transportation infrastructure

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis say they targeted a number of sensitive crude oil supply and transportation sites linking eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea city of Yanbu. Riyadh has blamed Iran-backed Iraqi groups.

The group’s military spokesperson Yahya Saree says the action is in response to what he describes as Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.

“By the grace of God, a number of targets and sensitive points in the supply and transport of crude oil from eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu were struck using several drones, in response to the Saudi enemy’s drones breaching Yemeni airspace,” says Saree on X.

A tense, years-long ceasefire between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia broke down earlier this month, with mutual strikes and the Houthis declaring a blockade on Saudi shipping.
