A man was killed overnight Saturday when the car he was driving crashed into a cow on Route 65, between Zalmon Junction and Masad in the north.

The man, said to be in his 50s, was declared dead by Magen David Adom first responders who arrived at the scene of the crash.

“It was a difficult scene when we arrived,” said MDA paramedic Nazyah Salah. “We saw a smashed truck overturned on the side of the road, and about ten meters away lay a man in his 50s with multiple injuries, unconscious and without a pulse or breath. After conducting medical examinations we were forced to declare him dead at the scene. A few dozen meters from there we saw the cow dead in the road.”

Police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
