One person was lightly injured on Sunday in a brawl in Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda market between Jews and Arabs who worked for the same business. He was evacuated to a local hospital for further care.

The scuffle saw people throwing chairs and tables at one another and even employing pepper spray, according to police.

Police also said that all of those involved in the fight were employees of a business located in the market.

The reason for the incident remains unclear.

Local media outlets reported that the fight was between Israeli and Palestinian workers.

Police opened an investigation, as well as detained several people involved in the fight.

The Mahane Yehuda Merchants’ Committee released a statement denouncing the incident.

“The Mahane Yehuda market, Israel’s market, is a warm, welcoming house which strives to be an anchor of culture and top culinary skills,” the statement read. “We denounce any attempt to harm the market’s reputation.”
