One woman killed, another badly hurt in suspected drive-by shooting

Police search for suspects after receiving report of shots fired at a car near Rishon Lezion; no word on whether incident a terror attack

A woman was killed and another badly wounded Monday in a suspected drive-by shooting near the central city of Rishon Lezion, police said.

Police said officers were called to the scene after receiving a report of shots fired at a vehicle and found the women near the Ein Hakore Interchange.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. The other was taken to Yitzhak Shamir Medical Center in nearby Tzrifin with a gunshot wound.

Police were carrying out searches for the suspected shooters and investigating the circumstances of the incident. There was no initial word on whether the shooting was suspected to be a terror attack.

Reports said the woman who died was 30 years old and the injured woman, 23. There was no immediate further information on their identities.
