Dahan was at the center of the Hamas attack when it began on October 7 and his body was taken to Gaza

On November 28, the IDF confirmed the death of Shaked Dahan, 19, whose body was taken hostage to Gaza. This is the story of his capture and its aftermath:

Shaked Dahan, a soldier in the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade’s 77th Battalion at the Nir Oz base, hasn’t been heard from since 6:30 a.m. on October 7, when Hamas terrorists attacked the Gaza border communities and towns.

The army base was considered ground zero for the massacre committed by Hamas, and Dahan’s battalion “tried to swallow the attack,” said one of the officers in a Kan report.

“We watched them going through the fence, with two tractors trying to take the fence down,” said the officer. “It was a very, very close battle, we could see their eyes.”

He said that if they had stayed in a tank, the full team would have been killed or kidnapped.

Dahan, who is from Afula, hasn’t been heard from since early in the morning on October 7.
