Oasis in the Galilee: A country retreat at Israel’s Hula Valley

With the Golan Heights close by, the area abounds with cool streams, scenic hiking trails, and a rich history

Ensconced in the rolling hills north of the Sea of Galilee lies a picturesque country retreat, Oasis in the Galilee, a private hideaway on almost 30 verdant dunams (7-1/2 acres), surrounded by lush gardens and fruit trees at the foot of Mt. Eliezer.

Close by the Hula Valley nature reserve wildlife sanctuary, Oasis in the Galilee is near Tel Hatzor, the largest excavations of antiquity in Israel, and not far from the River Jordan, which winds its way into the magnificent Sea of Galilee. With the splendid Golan Heights close by, the area abounds with cool streams and scenic hiking trails and sites of rich historical and archaeological interest.

At the heart of Oasis is a two-story residence building with expansive green lawns and stately shade trees at front and rear. The master quarters Contain an expansive living-dining room and four bedrooms.  Two private apartments are on the upper level. A spacious terrace provides a commanding view of the farm’s fruit orchards and the beautiful Galilean hills and majestic Mr. Hermon and the Golan Heights beyond. A secluded three-bedroom guest cottage sits on its own plot of land on the grounds – and even a tree house on an olive tree.

Oasis in the Galilee features three luxuriant gardens chock full of fruit trees – lemons, oranges, pomelos, grapefruit, tangerines, clementines, apples, pomegranates, apricots, plums, mangos, olives, grapes – and a variety of flowers, with meandering paths and benches for relaxation. The property contains a large orchard with nectarines. In one garden stands a tall weeping willow which forms a green canopy enclosing a cozy garden seating area. There is a barbecue chargrill and outdoor tables provide for al fresco eating. One of the highlights is a basketball court with lights for nighttime play which doubles as a soccer pitch and volleyball court. There is a variety of playground equipment – and lots of room for children to run around. A striking gazebo serves as a sukkah. Two large storage buildings provide for a huge amount of space for storing items.

The Gardens

Three wonderful gardens create a wonderland of greenery in Oasis in the Galilee. The large, luxuriant Timeless Garden near the entrance to Oasis in the Galilee features meandering paths amidst the trees and flowers. There is a small fish pond, and benches provide areas for relaxation and calm contemplation. The garden also features a cozy conversation nook under a shady canopy of trees. There are orange, grapefruit, lemon and clementine trees in the garden, as well as olive trees, an apple tree and a mango tree, plus tables for outdoor dining.

Oasis in the Galilee is in Sede Eliezer, a community of mainly agricultural farms. The orchards at Oasis in the Galilee contain mainly nectarines. About six dunams (1-1/2 acres) of the farm about the Hula Valley Nature Preserve.

There is room for expansion. Plans were approved for the construction of additional buildings on the property, and similar plans can be refiled by a new owner.
