US President Donald Trump shared a lighthearted moment with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa when he offered the former rebel leader his favorite cologne and asked how many wives he had during Sharaa’s visit to the White House.

In a video from the two presidents’ meeting on Monday, Trump could be seen spraying Sharaa with the Trump-branded cologne before handing it to him.

“It’s the best fragrance,” said Trump, telling Sharaa that there would be another bottle for his wife.

“How many wives? One?” Trump asked.

Sharaa was seemingly amused by the question, laughing and confirming that he only had one wife.

“With you guys, I never know,” replied Trump, playfully slapping Sharaa’s shoulder.

Sharaa’s visit to the White House was the first by a Syrian president and came after the US revoked his status as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist.”

The visit to Washington capped a stunning year for the rebel-turned-ruler who, since ousting Bashar Assad, has sought to end Syria’s decades of international isolation.
