Two men were killed by a vehicle explosion in Tel Aviv on Sunday night, in what appeared to be a criminal underworld slaying.
“A vehicle explosion took place in Tel Aviv a short while ago,” Israel Police said in a statement. “One car exploded and a second went up in flames.
Police and firefighters rushed to the scene at the corner of Etsel Street and Lehi Road in the Hatikva neighborhood to battle the flames of the blazing cars.
Paramedics pulled both men, in their 30s, from one of the vehicles but were forced to declare them dead at the scene.
Police said an investigation was underway and that the motive appeared to be criminal.
The force asked that members of the public stay away from the area.
