Two killed within minutes in separate traffic accidents
48-year-old woman killed in collision between private vehicle and truck; electric bicycle rider in his 40s killed after being hit by bus; two injured in collision on Highway 4
A 48-year-old woman was killed Sunday in a collision between her private vehicle and a truck on Highway 70 in northern Israel, paramedics said.
The woman was found trapped inside her vehicle near Ahihud Junction and was pulled out by first responders. Resuscitation efforts failed, however, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An initial investigation into the incident has raised the possibility of a hit-and-run, police said, adding that a police helicopter was dispatched to the area in an effort to locate the truck driver.
Separately, a man in his 40s who was riding an electric bicycle was killed around the same time after being hit by a bus.
The incident took place on Road 6403 near Pardes Hanna-Karkur, in central Israel.
The man, identified by Hebrew media as a foreign worker, was pronounced dead by paramedics.
In another incident, a motorcyclist in his 30s and the driver of a private car in his 40s were lightly injured after colliding on Highway 4 in central Israel, near Givat Shmuel.
