Woman raped, branded in Jerusalem forest
19-year-old victim attacked, sexually assaulted near Sanhedria neighborhood; police launch special investigation into incident
A 19-year-old woman was found unconscious, covered with cuts and bruises, and branded with the English letters “B” and “D” after being raped in a Jerusalem forest on Wednesday.
The victim was found by yeshiva students near the northern neighborhood of Sanhedria, who heard screaming from the forest. She was taken by paramedics to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem for treatment of her injuries.
According to a Channel 10 report, the police suspect that the crime — including the location and manner in which the woman was abused — was premeditated.
Police on Thursday were trying to retrieve DNA evidence from the scene of the crime. Jerusalem District police commissioner Yossi Pariente ordered a special investigation to examine possible criminal or hate crime motives for the attack.
