Authorities clear Eiffel Tower over bomb threat

Full evacuation spans several hours before authorities reopen Paris landmark

The Eiffel Tower, one of the preeminent symbols of Paris, France, was fully evacuated Friday due to a bomb scare.

Police told Reuters that the landmark was closed at around 2 p.m. and reopened at around 5 p.m. Paris time.

Evacuations of the Eiffel Tower based on terror threats occur a couple of times every year.
