A bicycle rider was killed Friday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident near the southern city of Arad.

Boris Gurfinkel, 46, was riding his bicycle on Highway 31 when a car hit him, destroying his bike and flinging him onto the road.

The driver immediately fled the scene, leaving Gurfinkel to bleed to death. However, the offending car was tracked down two hours later by local police and its driver, a 25-year-old bedouin, was arrested.

The suspect, al-Hamisa Eid, told police that he had driven away following the accident because he was “frightened.”

Meanwhile on Friday, two MDA rescue workers, a medic and paramedic, were hurt when a car hit them while they were treating the light injuries of three victims of another car accident in the Golan Heights. The medic was moderately injured and the paramedic lightly injured.
