A car rammed through a Jerusalem area checkpoint, ran over three security guards and evaded capture early Tuesday afternoon. One guard was moderately wounded in the incident and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transferred to a hospital. The two other guards were lightly wounded.
The incident occurred at the al-Zaim checkpoint, near Ma’ale Adumim just outside the capital.
The car, described by witnesses as a Mitsubishi with Israeli license plates, failed to respond to a request by guards to stop for a routine check and rammed through the checkpoint, injuring the first guard.
As it sped away, the vehicle came under fire by security personnel and was hit at least once, according to a Ynet News report. The vehicle then hit two more guards before speeding away toward Jerusalem.
