An Israeli has set a new record, but not, perhaps, one he can be proud of.
Police in the northern town of Kiryat Motzkin pulled over a man who witnesses said was driving erratically, zigzagging and driving on sidewalks. A breathalyzer test turned up a blood alcohol level of 1,625 micrograms per liter, six and a half times the legal limit of 240 — and the highest ever measured in an Israeli driver.
The 73-year-old man, a resident of Kiryat Yam, was taken to the police station, where the cops discovered his driver’s license had already been suspended and he was sentenced on a probationary basis to three months in jail if he drove despite the suspension.
The man was taken into custody.
