Education Minister Shai Piron was released from the hospital on Friday, after suffering from chest pains on a flight back from Poland to Israel. He was rushed to Petah Tikva’s Rabin Medical Center on Thursday evening upon arriving at Ben Gurion International Airport.
A hospital spokesperson told reporters late Thursday that initial tests showed that Piron did not have a heart attack, and that the minister would be held overnight for observation.
Piron, who is 48, started to feel lightheaded and had chest pains during the return flight from Poland, and an emergency medical team was waiting at the airport when his plane landed. He had received medical attention from a doctor who was on the plane.
Piron was in Poland on an official visit, along with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other government officials.
Returning home on Friday, Piron said that he is feeling “well.”
