Police launched an investigation Wednesday after two empty kindergartens in the city of Lod were set on fire, days before the school year is set to commence.
The motive behind the incidents was unclear, with police saying they were investigating all possibilities.
The municipality said it would make efforts to repair the damage quickly, to ensure that the schools open on time on September 1.
The city of Lod has recently been the scene of heightened tensions between its Jewish and Arab residents, due to Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip.
The incident comes against a backdrop of increased concerns in the Education Ministry regarding the opening of the school year on schedule, as rocket fire from the Gaza Strip threatened to keep schools closed for safety reasons.
