Eighties pop star Boy George, declaring his love for the state of Israel, has come out with a new single, “Rainbow in the Dark,” written and sung with Israeli Asaf Goren, with lyrics in English and Hebrew.
Boy George, who performed in Israel in November 2017, has been plagued by Israel boycott activists, and wanted to push back, said Goren.
The pop singer told Ynet that he looked forward to being in Israel soon and playing live. “Shalom, peace and love!” he said.
According to Goren, who launched his singing career after appearing on reality show “Big Brother,” Boy George liked Goren’s solo album and tagged him on Instagram.
Goren, who calls himself a “new Jew,” is a dancer and singer, and currently sports long payot, or sideburns, although he isn’t ultra-Orthodox.
The two corresponded and began working on the song together, sending recorded pieces back and forth. Boy George wanted some Hebrew in the song as well, Goren said.
Boy George will perform “Rainbow in the Dark” with Culture Club at London’s Wembley Stadium on December 19. The performance will be streamed live.
