2 elderly pedestrians killed in car accidents

80-year-old man struck by vehicle on Levi Eshkol Boulevard; 81-year-old hit by car at pedestrian crossing in Ashdod

An elderly pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

The man in his 80s was struck by the vehicle on Levi Eshkol Boulevard in north Tel Aviv in the afternoon.

A Magen David Adom ambulance rushed him to Ichilov Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Earlier in the day, another pedestrian in his 80s died after he was hit at a pedestrian crossing in Ashdod on Saturday.

The 81-year-old man was hit on Moshe Dayan Street in Ashdod and taken to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

When he first arrived at the hospital his condition was listed as mild, but he quickly deteriorated and passed away on Sunday.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and have interviewed the driver of the vehicle, a 36-year-old resident of Ashdod.
