Some locals are steering clear of the Western Wall, but not actor Morgan Freeman.

The Academy Award-winning actor arrived in Jerusalem at the end of last week to film his documentary “The Story of God,” after first filming at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, according to Reuters.

The series, which is about mankind’s quest to understand the divine, includes Freeman as executive producer and presenter, along with Lori McCreary, Freeman’s co-founder at production company Revelations Entertainment and National Geographic Channel.

According to news reports, Freeman is conducting his own exploration of God, experiencing religion and ritual all over the world, and examining how science and cosmology coincide with religion.

Of course, he already has some familiarity with the subject having played God in 2003’s “Bruce Almighty” with Jim Carrey, a role he reprised in 2007’s “Evan Almighty.”

Freeman will be filming in Jerusalem for several days before heading to India, reported Ynet.

In Egypt, he reportedly filmed with actor Jack Nicholson.

“The Story of God” is expected to air on National Geographic Channel in 2016 in the US and globally in 171 countries and 45 languages.
