Iran again refuted accusations of responsibility for a series of attempted attacks on Israeli targets last week, and urged the UN to take action against Jerusalem for its alleged involvement in assassinations of Iranian scientists, Kuwait News Agency reported on Thursday.
In a letter sent to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Security Council President Kodjo Menan of Togo, Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee wrote that Iran “categorically rejects the allegations concerning any involvement of its officials or organs whatsoever in alleged recent terrorist operations against Israeli targets.”
He further condemned the assassination of Iranian scientists as part of an Israeli “war game” against the Islamic Republic. Khazaee urged the UN to take action against Israel’s suspected killing of Iranian nuclear scientists.
“These crimes not only display the aggressive and warmongering nature of the Israeli regime, but also constitute blatant violations of international law and the most fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and require a clear and resolute response on the part of the United Nations, particularly the Security Council,” he said.
Making reference to Israeli control of the West Bank and other “subsequent atrocities,” Khazaee called for official condemnation of Israel’s ongoing terrorism against other peoples.
Last month, Khazaee told CBS’s Charlie Rose that Iran, contrary to accusations by Israel and the US, is not developing the capacity to produce nuclear weapons.
