A 75-year-old businessman was found murdered in his Tbilisi apartment Wednesday.

Local officials told Georgian media that the man was killed last Thursday, but it took almost a week for his body to be found.

The Israeli, whose name has not yet been released to the press, had his skull cracked by several assailants using a hammer in what police are calling a premeditated killing.

Some $2,000 was reported stolen from the scene, according to reports.

The victim had arrived in Georgia to meet with business partners and had rented an apartment in the Old Quarter of Tbilisi.

A murder case has been opened by local police and a number of arrests have been reported.
