An Israeli citizen was found dead in Cyprus this week after apparently succumbing to hypothermia, the Foreign Ministry said.

The body of 47-year-old Anwar Khatib, from the village of Mghar in northern Israel, was found at a construction site near a Limassol hotel early Wednesday.

Local police said Khatib had apparently died of cold, and did not provide further details on the circumstances. Officials have ruled out any criminal circumstances.

Khatib’s body will be flown to Israel for burial.
