Jewish teen invites supermodel to prom

Asking someone to prom is becoming more and more of a production these days, but Jake Davidson has taken the task to a whole other level. His slick online video invitation to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton has gone viral, with almost a million views in just a few days.

Davidson, a senior at Milken Community High School, a Jewish day school in Los Angeles, pulled out all the stops, and showed a good sense of self-deprecating humor in making his pitch to the bathing beauty.

“I’m Jewish, 5’9″ on a really good day — and I can’t dance. At all,” he joked. “You’re Christian, 5’10”, and that Cat Daddy video should have won an Oscar for best short film. You could say this is destiny.”

In the clip, Davidson aims to make an unforgettable impression on Upton as he lounges by the pool reading Sports Illustrated, does pushups, showers (the camera views him from the waist up) and gets dressed in a tux. In one segment, he delivers the clip’s most memorable line while driving: “Kate, we can ride around all night long — till 11. That’s my curfew.”

To the high school student’s delight, Upton responded to his video with a tweet, saying, “How could I turn down that video! I’ll check my schedule ;)”

The model gave Davidson a similarly non-committal, diplomatic response when she surprised him with a phone call as he appeared on the “Today” show Wednesday morning.
