A young man was shot and killed in the Bedouin village of Arara Banegev overnight, in what police believe is linked to a feud between families.
The victim, Mahmoud Jasser Abu Arar, is a 20-year-old medical student who had been studying in Georgia. He had just returned to his home in the Negev before being killed, Arabic media outlets report.
Paramedics found Abu Arar in critical condition and shuttled him to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, but he soon succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Police say they have arrested 10 suspects in the deadly shooting, all residents of Arara Banegev. They add that from an initial examination, the shooting appears to be linked to a dispute between families.
Three other men were shot and killed in the northern city of Shfaram hours later, meaning a total of four people fell victim to homicide overnight as violent crime continues to soar in Arab society.
Last year was the deadliest year for Arab citizens of Israel on record, with 252 killed over the course of 2025.
Just a week into this year, 11 Arab citizens have been killed violently, setting a trend that surpasses even last year’s sky-high homicide rate.
