Police announce the arrests of three people suspected of involvement in the point-blank assassination of Yanis Yushvaev at a Caesarea gas station on Sunday.
Yushvaev, 40, was described in Hebrew media as the head of the Caucasian mafia in Israel. He was repeatedly arrested on suspicion of involvement in violent crime, but never convicted.
Officers from the Yamam counter-terrorism force arrested the three suspects in Hadera this afternoon following “intense intelligence activity,” police say in a statement that doesn’t name Yushvaev.
The suspects have been taken for questioning at Police Coastal District headquarters in Haifa, the statement says.
“Israel Police will keep acting resolutely to investigate the incident, locate all those involved and bring them to justice,” the statement adds.
