After 47 years, Labor Party head shaves mustache so voters know he won’t sit with Netanyahu
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleLabor Party leader Amir Peretz shaves his mustache to send a message to anyone having problems understanding him.
“I decided to remove my mustache so the entire Israeli nation will know exactly what I’m saying and can read my lips… I won’t sit with Netanyahu. Period,” he says in an interview with Channel 12 news.
Peretz says he sported a mustache for 47 years and, in 2002, decided to shorten it, after hearing complaints from organizations for the deaf that their members could not understand him.
Ahead of the Labor leadership primaries, Peretz’s supporters wore shirts bearing an image of his mustache.
