Arab lawmakers protest home demolitions in northern Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleArab lawmakers are protesting after police demolished 11 homes in the northern Israeli town of Qalansawe.
“This is an unprecedented crime and a declaration of war against the residents of Qalansawe and the Arab population,” says a statement from the Joint (Arab) List party.
Police demolished the buildings saying they had been illegally built without permits.

Recently Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to crack down on illegal Arab construction after the High Court ordered the demolition of the illegal settlement of Amona, saying laws would be applied equally in Israel.
“The houses were in the process of receiving planning permission, the government has hastened to act in order to make a point,” the statement says.
