Coalition opens Knesset summer session facing no confidence threat

The Knesset is now opening its summer session, with the coalition in dire straits after losing its parliamentary majority.
A no-confidence vote is expected today, and the coalition could feasibly lose it. This would not mean the government’s collapse, as by law an alternative government needs to be presented in order to pass such a motion (and no such alternative is currently on offer), but it would be a symbolic defeat and could further destabilize the coalition.
