Hammond: No regime change, Iran may moderate on its own
British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond, speaking to Israel’s Channel 2, says Benjamin Netanyahu would not have embraced any deal with Iran over their nuclear program.
“I think he’s taking some risks and he will make his own decision on how much political capital to expend in the US on fighting this deal,” he says.
Hammond rejects the idea that the world should expect regime change from Iran’s revolutionary rule by Ayatollah Ali Khamenie and says he’s “not betting overnight Iran’s behavior will change.”
However, he says over time, other countries that have opened up to financial opportunities have moderated.
