Health Ministry to reconsider school openings as COVID cases spike

The Health Ministry will reconsider the scheduled opening of the school year on September 1, as COVID infections in the country spike, a representative of the ministry tells a Knesset panel.
“In the coming days there will be a reevaluation of the reopening of the school year,” says Ilana Gens, who oversees public health services, according to Hebrew reports.
The move comes as the number of active coronavirus cases in the country approaches 80,000, with 8,880 new infections diagnosed Wednesday.
