High Court postpones razing of synagogue built on private Palestinian land
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe High Court has ordered a temporary injunction delaying the destruction of a synagogue in the Givat Ze’ev settlement that was built on private Palestinian land, Ynet reports.
The court agreed to stay the move until a later date, after worshipers threatened to barricade themselves in the structure and rabbis and lawmakers requested that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to settle the crisis.
Israeli NGO Yesh Din brought the case to the attention of the court last year. After the synagogue’s contractor failed to prove that he purchased the land, the court ordered the structure razed by tomorrow.
A final hearing on the matter is scheduled for next week.
