Jerusalem to launch innovative wireless network across the city

Jerusalem is set to become the first city in Israel to install a wireless network using millimeter wave technology.

High-frequency millimeter waves greatly increase wireless capacity and speeds for cellular networks.

According to the municipality, Jerusalem’s new network will enable users to access a variety of services including emergency services and smart parking solutions. The network will also upgrade the internet connection speed in the city’s educational facilities, and will provide free wireless service throughout Jerusalem.

“We are positioning Jerusalem alongside the world’s leading smart cities,” Mayor Nir Barkat says in a statement.
