MK hails freeze of pluralistic plaza at Western Wall
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAgriculture Minister Uri Ariel welcomes Netanyahu’s decision to freeze the 2016 government-approved plan to establish a pluralistic prayer pavilion at the Western Wall.
Ariel, a lawmaker from the nationalist Orthodox Jewish Home party, says he is “happy the government is choosing to restore the status quo at the Western Wall.”
“We have succeeded in preventing unnecessary division of the Jewish people and harming the social and religious fabric of Israeli society, and the Jewish people,” he says in a statement.
Religious lawmakers had sought to dissolve the 2016 deal that would establish a pluralistic, mixed-gender plaza at the Western Wall.
