PM delays vote on approving illegal settlements

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders that a vote to legalize several unapproved West Bank settlements be delayed indefinitely.

The move appears meant to avoid a step that could further escalate growing tensions and a spate of violence between Arabs and Jews in recent days.

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation, a key cabinet committee, was set to vote Sunday on a bill that would give legal sanction to several West Bank settlements and buildings built illegally, some of which have been ordered removed down by the High Court of Justice.
