Police call for indictment of Netanya’s deputy mayor
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Israel Police calls for the indictment of a senior Netanya municipality official, along with several leading businesspeople from the city.
The police’s Lahav 433 anti-fraud unit has completed its investigation of Netanya Deputy Mayor Shimon Sher, suspecting him of “bribery, fraud and betrayal of public trust,” according to a police statement.
Police say a number of Netanya businesspeople are also suspected of being involved, but do not name them.
They are believed to have helped “advance the interests of contractors and businesspeople over the course of several years in exchange for directly funding foundations connected to the deputy mayor,” police say.
The police have handed over details of the investigation to the district attorney.
