Presidents pay tribute at funeral of ex-Mossad chief

President Reuven Rivlin and his predecessor Shimon Peres deliver eulogies as they join hundreds of mourners at the funeral for former Mossad director Meir Dagan.

“You were a commander and a warrior, a leader and one of the people,” says Rivlin at the funeral in Rosh Pina, according to Channel 2. “You were a paragon, one of the heroes of Israel.”

Peres adds: “Meir was a born leader. It was not in vain that warriors followed him into battle in seen and unseen places. The nation trusted him and placed in his hands the fate of the battle and his intensity of vision. Under his command — a combination of wisdom, courage, creativity and a dash of winning chutzpah — the Mossad was the best organization in the world.”

Dagan died Thursday after a long battle with cancer.
