Reports: IDF believes Hamas not behind recent attacks, just ‘riding the wave’
In a briefing to Hebrew media, unnamed IDF officials say the military believes the Hamas terror group is not behind recent deadly terror attacks, but rather is “riding the wave” to encourage further violence.
This assessment has been presented to political leaders. The military says it believes the recent attacks were not directed by organizations but were so-called lone-wolf attacks.
Officials also tell outlets they believe there is deterrence against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the group is unlikely to seek a major escalation.
